The mission of the South Lake Tahoe Family Resource Center is to enable individuals and families to achieve self-sufficiency and economic stability, to develop resilience in both parents and children, and to allow families to become a contributing part of the community. We are a public benefit, not for profit 501c3, CA corporation, and entered into partnership with the Lake Tahoe Unified School District in 2023, sharing a Director position between the school district and the Family Resource Center. We are grateful for support from Lake Tahoe Community College, El Dorado County Mental Health Department, New Morning Youth and Family Servics, and many other partner agencies, volunteers, and members of our community. We are open as below, except national holidays and some LTUSD school breaks:
Monday and Wednesday 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (with events until 7:00 PM)
Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Saturday 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Programs offered include:
- Bilingual counseling to assist with life’s challenges
- Bilingual advocacy, and translations for a variety of issues including mental wellness, educational success, healthy living, navigating the health care system, job searches, and other resilience building activities.
- Weekly parent groups, every Wenesday and Friday, at 8:30 a.m. bring community partners to share information, a therapist to lead topics of interest to families, and build positive community
- ESL classes in partnership with the Lake Tahoe Community College
- Spanish language parent training classes
- Yearly support for identification documents through the Mexican Consulate
- Operation of Bookworks, a book store at Lakeview Plaza, with volunteer support
- Office hours with Public Health and Advance Navigators
- Enrichment activities like youth art classes, cooking, and Ballet Folklórico for all ages
